Intercollegiate Business Idea Pitch Competition signup

Rules for the Intercollegiate Business Idea Pitch Competition

  • All business plan presentations must be given by student team members. Presentations are to be no more than three minutes (and the time limit will be strictly enforced). No presentation materials are permitted. We strongly suggest that only one team member make the actual presentation.
  • Each team must have a student as a principal member who is responsible for representing the team and being the primary contact in all matters.
  • Businesses that have generated any revenue prior to 8/1/09 are not eligible
  • Teams’ businesses cannot have received previous venture capital funding. Teams’ businesses that have received angel funding less than or equal to $100,000 or grant funding for the purpose of R&D and business development are eligible to participate.
  • Teams shall be comprised of only students pursuing undergraduate degrees.
  • Teams solely comprised of members from technical schools or solely business schools will be disadvantaged in describing the full range of skills necessary to launch a new business (this is not a rule, it is a statement)
  • Presentations will be judged for clarity, quality of the presentation, and quality of the venture. The goal of an elevator pitch is to secure an invitation for a subsequent meeting, thus building excitement is important. And, for investors, excitement translates directly to profitability.
